ABOUT

Pine Lake Village (PLV) is located on the famous and popular Gold Coast of sunny south-east Queensland in Australia.

'Pine Lake' is an established village for over 65 year old retired Australians, nestled on the shore of beautiful Pine Lake at Elanora, consisting of one and two bedroom new high-quality Apartments — many with water views — and established villas — some waterfront — over acres of landscaped garden retreat grounds, containing new mineral pool and spa, modern fully equipped gymnasium, two covered all-weather alfresco bbq areas; with fully refurbished and decorated modern community centre containing large open plan lounge dining and meeting areas, extensive surround bar, quality kitchen, separate library and computer room, billiards/pool room, hairdressing salon, and onsite visiting medical facilities.

Pine Lake village has a friendly and welcoming community, and is proudly owned and operated by Levande (www.levande.com.au/pine-lake). Previously known as Stockland Retirement Living, Levande is building on the strong legacy of Stockland communities across Australia. Named after the Swedish word that means 'vivid' and 'full of life', Levande's communities embody the positivity inherent in the name.

Historically, Pine Lake Village was first created and subdivided in the eighties, in stages of construction, all of single-level concrete-slab brick-veneer tile-roof multi-dwelling villas, designed for no-step access over a mostly level ground site, immediately adjacent to the new Elanora Pine Lake Shopping Center, built to service the growing new Elanora suburb estate developments inland of the area west of Palm Beach at that time period. As PLV original occupants age and move on, the residence they occupied are fully refurbished, upgraded and improved to the modern and latest building and safety standards and fittings of the day, meaning that the whole village is being continually upgraded over time, with minimal interferance and inconvenience to the other village existing residents. Therefore, all residences offered for new occupation, are new or newly fully upgraded and refurbished.

RETIREMENT VILLAGE –VS– NURSING HOME

Please note the difference between the commonly confused terms and understanding of the phrases 'Retirement Village' and 'Nursing Home'. 'Retirement Village' staff and management do NOT provide a personal assistance service for their residents, whereas 'Nursing Home' staff DO provide such an assistance service. Retirement Villagers are expected to be physically able to look after themselves without requiring assistance — to live independently of physical assistance.

A 'Retirement Village' is generally for elderly people, typically retirees (over 65 — now 67), that are still capable to live independently (without aid for dressing, feeding, toiletries or rising), providing 'independent living' (not nursing) facilities within independent units/villas across a range of separate buildings. The external building surfaces, gardens and grounds, fencing, driveways, paths, and common facilities are maintained by the Village operator.

Independent living Retirement Village residents ARE however, still responsible for their internal residence maintenance and cleaning, meals, mobility, and property insurances.

Whereas, a 'Nursing Home' is also generally for elder people (typically older than Retirement Villagers), and is specifically provided for those that are unable to continue living independently — without physical assistance — particularly those that are unable to rise unassisted from their bed, chair, or up off the floor (should they find themselves in that situation).

Nursing Homes are commonly designed to provide mostly only single bedroom accommodations and assisted living facilities (not independent) within a single or interconnected common building facility that provides onsite nursing availability, staff aid for rising, dressing, feeding, toiletries and health care, typically with common dining facilities providing all meals, and with full cleaning, maintenance services and insurances.

Assisted living (Nursing Home) residents differ from independent living (Retirement Village) residents responsibilities in that assisted living residents are NOT responsible for their internal residence maintenance and cleaning, food preparation and meals, mobility without assistance, and property insurances.
